Remedial Works
Remedial works from a PPM inspection are the corrective actions identified and carried out as a result of issues discovered during a planned preventative maintenance visit; as distinct from the routine, scheduled servicing tasks that make up the PPM itself.
Â
During an inspection, a technician may find faults, defects, wear, or non-compliance issues that fall outside the standard maintenance checklist (for example, a corroded pipe joint, a faulty electrical connection, a damaged fire door seal, or a component nearing failure).
Â
Rather than being resolved on the spot (since they weren't part of the planned scope, may require parts, specialist labour, or further authorization), these issues are typically logged, prioritised by urgency or risk (sometimes categorised, e.g., "urgent/immediate," "routine," or "minor/monitor"), and scheduled as a separate follow-up job - the remedial work.
Â
This creates a clear distinction in maintenance records and budgets between planned, cyclical PPM tasks and reactive, defect-driven repairs, and it allows facilities managers to track outstanding issues, cost them separately, and ensure they're closed out in a timely manner, particularly where safety-critical or compliance-related findings (e.g., fire safety, electrical, or gas systems) are involved.

Our Remedial Process
How We Work
01
Identification & Logging
During a routine PPM visit, our engineer identifies any defects, wear, or non-compliance issues outside the planned scope of works. These are logged on-site with photographs, descriptions, and an initial priority rating (e.g. urgent, routine, or monitor).
02
Quotation & Approval
Each logged remedial is costed and submitted as a separate, itemised quotation, distinct from the core PPM contract. Works are categorised by urgency, with safety-critical or compliance-related issues (fire, electrical, gas, etc.) flagged for priority approval.
03
Scheduling
Once approved, the remedial work is scheduled back into the maintenance programme, coordinated around site access, parts availability, and specialist labour requirements where needed. Urgent or compliance-driven remedials are prioritised ahead of routine findings.
04
Completion & Sign-Off
The remedial work is carried out, tested where applicable, and closed out with full documentation — including certification for any statutory or compliance-related repairs. This record is added to the site's maintenance history, ensuring a clear, auditable trail.
